CIRCUS ART

CIRCUS ART. Bashkirs had the elements of C.a. in certain forms long ago. Horse riders, wrestlers, archers, dancers and musicians demonstrated their skills at sabantuys. The establishment and development of the professional Bashkir C.a. began after the Ufa Circus was opened in 1968. In 1970, the Bashkir Circus Studio was organized and its graduates (L.V.Avershina, A.G.Vildanov, Yu.H.Gazizov, the Kaseyevs, etc) formed the basis of the Bashkir Circus team. Acrobatics, performances with animals, juggling, clownade, horse circus, balancing acts were presented in the first circus program of the Bashkir troupe Blossom, Bashkiria!; including the acts Ground Tumblers with Trampolines, Dzhigits of Bashkortostan, Equilibrium on a Free Wire. Later the programs From Heart to Heart (1979), Sabantuy in the Arena (1984), The Arena of Friendship (1989) were created. In 1991, the Bashkir Circus team was dissolved, its individual artists perform in various troupes. Contribution to the establishment of the Bashkir C.a. was made by G.V.Anishchenko, N.P.Barzilovich, F.A.Gaskarov, R.N.Derbisheva, F.H.Iksanov, etc. Since 1970s, avocational circus societies and studios have been operating in the Republic, including variety‑circus troupe Chingiz and Tamerlan of the Neftekamsk Philharmonia, circus studios Yunost of the Sterlitamak Palace of Culture of Chemists (1972, since 1976 “people’s”, since 2003 not operated), Alyona of the Birsk municipal Palace of Culture (1995, since 2000 “people’s”), Serpentine of the Children and Youth Centre Yunost in the town of Salavat (2001, since 2003 — “exemplary”, since 2009 – “people’s”), Yunost of the Ufa municipal Cultural and Recreational Center (2007), etc.
