CHAPAYEV, Vasily Ivanovich
CHAPAYEV, Vasily Ivanovich (28.1.1887, Derevnya Budayki of Kazan Gub. — 5.9.1919, near Lbishchensk of Ural Obl.), Member of the Revolutionary Movement. Awarded with the St. George’s Crosses, 1st, 2nd (both – 1916), 3rd and 4th (1915) Classes and the Order of the Red Flag (1919). Participant of the First World War and the Civil War. Member of the RSDLP(b) since 1917. In the Russian Army in 1908 and between 1914–16. In the Red Army between 1918–19. Since April, 1919 – the Commander of the 25th Rifle Division, which distinguished itself in Belebey and Ufa attacks by the Red Army. In June, the 25th Rifle Division freed Ufa from the A.V.Kolchak’s troops. There are streets in the RB named after Ch. In 2018, a monument to Ch. was installed on the 25th Chapayev Division Museum territory, in Derevnya Krasny Yar of Ufimsky Raion.
