CHEKMAGUSHEVSKY RAION
CHEKMAGUSHEVSKY RAION, located in the NW of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930. Territory — 1,686 km2. Adm. centre — Selo Chekmagush, which is located 111 km NW of Ufa and 67 km N of the Buzdyak Railway Station. Population — 28.4 thous. people (2017). In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 138.9 thous. ha (82.4% of the total area), including arable lands — 90.4, hay — 7.2, pastures — 40.6; forest area — 19.8, surface waters — 0.7. Agricultural enterprises [7 APCs, 3 OOOs, 57 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, sugar beets, sunflower, dairy cattle breeding. Horse breeding is developed. There is a veterinary station on the territory of the Raion. There are: October Electrical Networks — a branch of OOO Bashkirenergo, Chekmagushevsky section of OOO Energosbytovaya Company, OOO Bashkemamix, 2 dairy plants, MTS, etc. The Kushnarenkovo—Chekmagush—Bakaly, Dyurtyuli—Chekmagush—Buzdyak, and Chishmy—Yazykovo—Chekmagush highways cross the territory.
There are: a branch of Agricultural and Technological College, 14 general education schools, an orphanage for children and teenagers, 12 pre‑school educational institutions, a children’s arts school, a youths sports school, a children’s arts centre; a central hospital and a local hospital, an outpatient hospital, 42 medical and obstetrical centers, Chekmagush‑Arena Indoor Ice Rink; the Central Palace of Culture, 28 clubs, 23 libraries, and a local history museum. In the Raion, there are 11 folk and exemplary amateur art groups.
