SHAGALI SHAKMAN­BIY, Leader of the Bashk. Tamyan tribe. Led the Tamyan people on to battle against the Nogay Horde. According to a shezhere and other historical sources, together with Aznay‑biy, Bikbau-biy, Iske-biy and Karakuzyakbiy Meshavali held the negotiations for the accession of the south‑eastern Bashkirs to Russia (ref. Accession of Bashkortostan to Russia). After the aggreement was signed, he received a Zhalovannaya Gramota, confirming his Russian citizenship. Sh.Sh.‑b. was awarded the title of Tarkhan. The burial of Sh.Sh.‑b. is located in Derevnya Kagarmanovo of Beloretsky Raion of the RB.
