SHAKIROV, Midhat Zakirovich

SHAKIROV, Midhat Zakirovich (5.10.1916, Ufa – 1.5.2004, Ibid.), Soviet Communist Party and Social Activist. Hero of Socialist Labour (1981). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1964, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986), Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1958, 1961). Graduated from the Bezhitsky Mechanical Engineering Institute (1941). Between 1947–48, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Regional Industry of the BASSR (Ufa). Since 1950 Dir. Of the Geophysical Instrument Engineering Plant, since 1952 Head of the Construction and Assembly Department No.74, since 1954 Chief Engineer of the Nefteprovodmontazh Trust, since 1963 1st Secretary of the Ufa City Committee of the CPSU, between 1969–87 1st Secretary of the Bashkir Obl. Committee of the CPSU. He made a significant contribution to the development of industry and agriculture, science and culture of the republic. Member of the Presidium of the 8–11th Sessions of the Supreme Council of the USSR.
