SHAMIGULOV, Galiy Kamaletdinovich (15.10.1890, Sterlitamak – 25.11.1959, Kiev), Statesman. Member of the RSDLP(b) since 1910. Participant of the Civil War. Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1944). Since 1917, Head of the Ufa Gub. Headquarters of Combat Agencies of the People’s Arms and Chairman of the Tatar and Bashkir Bureau of the Ufa Gub. Committee of the RSDLP(b). Since 1918 Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Military Revolutionary Committee, simultaneously, since March Member of the Executive Committee of the Orenburg Gub. Council of Workers, Soldiers, Cossack and Peasant Deputies, and Commissar for Nationalities. He opposed the formation of the autonomy of Bashkortostan. Since October 1919 Head of Political Department of the People’s Commissariat for Military Affairs of the Bashrepublic, since November Member of the Bashkir Obl. Committee of the RCP(b), and Bashkir Emergency Commission. In January 1920, he was arrested together with other members of the Bashkir Emergency Commission on charges of preparing a plot against the Bashkir Military Revolutionary Committee, later released. Since July, Chairman of the Bashkir Central Executive Committee and the Council of People’s Commissars of the ASBR. In the course of suppression of the Burzyan‑Tangaurovsky Uprising advocated the use of punitive measures against the rebels. In October, was recalled to Moscow by the decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Between 1924–25, Chairman of Bashpotrebsoyuz (Bashkir Consumer Union).
