INTERNATIONAL DRAUGHTS, 100‑square board draughts, asport, one of the forms of the checkers game. In Bashkortostan, I.d. developed in early 60s of the 20th century in Ufa. A draughts club at the Pioneers Palace was organized in Ishimbay in 1982. The Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve in draughts was established in 1990, the professional draughts club Neftyanik (now the club Bashneft) — in 1999. High results at the international competitions were demonstrated by the International grandmasters A.S.Georgiyev, A.I.Idrisov, V.I.Milshin, Ye.A.Milshina, T.M.Tansykkuzhina, R.A.Shaybakov, the grandmaster of Russia G.R.Georgiyeva and others. The Men’s World Cup (2013), the match for the World Cup Champion (2008) and the Women’s World Cup (2010), the European Champions Cup (2001), matches for the World Cup Champion (2003–04), the World Rapid Championship (2011) and the Men’s and Women’s World Cup (2011, 2017), the Cadet World Championship (2008) were held in the republic. The Draughts Federation of the RB has operated since 1958. In 2002, the International Draughts Federation, an interregional public organization, was established in Ufa. A great contribution to the development of I.d. was made by the Merited Coach of Russia Yu.V.Chertok, the arbitrator of the World Draughts Federation A.P.Melnikov, All‑Russia sports judges D.Kh.Sakayev, V.D.Chernyshyov and others.
