ELECTRIC MOTOR
ELECTRIC MOTOR, an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy; most common are AC electric motors. In Bashkortostan electric motors are manufactured by the UAPO and Avtokomplekt Plant. In the 1950s, UAPO produced electric motors for aircraft, in 1960s – for motor vehicles, in 1992 – general purpose industrial 3‑phase induction motors, in 1995 – explosion‑proof motors for the Petrochemical Industry, in 2007 – for nuclear power stations. Production of washing machines was started in 1956, household electric pumps – in 1966, air suction units for vacuum cleaners – in 1972. The RB is ranked number three (8.8%) among Russian manufacturers of universal E.m. (2016).
