ENCYCLOPAEDIAS

ENCYCLOPAEDIAS, scientific, popular scientific or popular reference publications on paper and electronic media. E. represent a systematized set of knowledge, contain basic information on individual or all branches of science and practical activity, set out in the form of short articles, arranged in alphabetical, thematic or alphabetical and thematic order. In Bashkortostan, the first E. Heritage was prepared at the turn of the 19th — 20th centuries by R.F.Fakhretdinov; it included the biographies of theologians, writers, public figures, major patrons and entrepreneurs of the Ural‑Volga Region (in 1900—08, 2 volumes were published in 15 books out of 4 volumes prepared for printing). Since early 1990s, the development of encyclopedic studies has been associated with the work of the AS RB, the Institute of History, Language and Literature and state autonomous institution of science of the RB Bashkir Encyclopedia. In 1996—2018, 17 titles of E. were published on paper in 29 volumes: universal regional E. — Bashkortostan. Brief Encyclopaedia in Russian (1996) and Bashkir (1997) languages, multivolume Bashkir Encyclopaedia; personal E. — Salavat Yulayev; thematic E. — War History of the Bashkirs (2013), The Peoples of Bashkortostan, Bashkir Komsomol (2016); corporate E. — Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat (2013), Bashkir Republican Boarding School No.1 named after R.Garipov (2014); E. of small territories — Zilairsky raion (2000), Baymakskaya Encyclopaedia (2013), Sibay. Encyclopaedia, Abzelilovskaya Encyclopaedia, Ishimbayskaya Encyclopaedia, Khaybullinskaya Encyclopaedia (all — in 2015), Salavat. Encyclopaedia (2018). 4 titles of E. were issued on electronic media: Bashkortostan. Brief Encyclopaedia (online; 1997), Bashkortostan. Brief Encyclopaedia in Russian and Bashkir languages (both – on CD‑ROM, 2005), Bashkir Encyclopaedia in 7 volumes in Russian (2015) and Bashkir (2018) languages (both – online).
