AVIZHANSKAYA Sofiya Aleksandrovna

AVIZHANSKAYA Sofiya Aleksandrovna (5.12.1920–20.1.2014), folklorist, ethnographer, museologist. Candidate of Philology (1946). Her research is devoted to the history of the State Ethnography Museum of the Peoples of the USSR, the study of ethnography and folklore of the peoples of the Volga region and the Pre­ Urals. In 1956–59, she participated in ethno­ graphic expeditions of the Institute of History, Language, and Literature in Bashkortostan, Kurganskaya, and Chelyabinskaya oblasts (regions) of the Russian Federation. One of the compilers  of  the  album  “Folk  Art  of  the Bashkirs” (1968).
