AZAMAT
“AZAMAT” is a Bashkir ethnic song, uzunkuy. The singing by S.S. Kulibaeva was first registered by M.K. Khismatullin in 1937 in the Temyasovo village of Baymakskiy District of BASSR. It was published in “Bash kort khalk yirdary”. The song is lyrical. It first appeared during the period of the canton organization system. According to the legend, a hero sings this song before death. It reflects the thoughts of a person who has overcome many ordeals. The melody has a wide range, slow tempo and ornamental intrasyllabic chants. The melody is more expressive as it is descending from high to low pitch. “A.” was musically adapted for a choir a cappella by R.V. Salmanov, M.P. Fomenkov and for a solo and choir by A.G. Tikhomirov. The melody is used in “Ay khylu” opera by M.M. Valeev and N.I. Peyko.
