BASHKIR FOLK SONGS AND TUNES
“BASHKIR FOLK SONGS AND TUNES”, the compilation of folk songs and instrumental music (M., 1962). The compiling editor, the author of the introductory article, comments, sound recordings, phonotranscripts and trans lations is L.N. Lebedinsky. It consists of the introductory analytical article, essay In Bur zyanskiye Mountains, musical notations (100) and comments. In the introductory article, re presenting one of the first fundamental research of the Bashkir folk music, the author deeply and comprehensively analyzes uzun-kyuy, reviews in detail the structure of dance melodies, describes Bashkir folk instruments kuray and kubyz; a part of the article is devoted to kyska-kyuy, as well as to the songs and folk tunes, associated with the image of Salavat Yulayev. In the 2nd section, the pieces of vocal music are systematized by genres: uzunkyuy, kyska kyuy, kubair, bait, senlyau, uzlyau, etc. The lyrics of the songs are rendered in Russian for the first time. The comments contain the information on the performers and information providers M.A. Baimov, M.F. Burangulov, I.Sh. Dilmukhametov, Z.G. Ismagilov, T.Kh. Kusimova, B.M. Magadeyeva, etc, as well as the summary of legends and the characteris tics of melodies; publications are referenced. In 1965, revised edition was published.
