BASHKIR FOLK EPIC
“BASHKIR FOLK EPIC”, a collection of Bashkir folk tales in Bashkir and Russian languages (Moscow, 1977; series “Epics of the peoples of the USSR”). Compiled by A.S. Mirbadaleva, M.M. Sagitov, A.I. Kharisov. The main part of the collection includes the epic works “Akbuzat”, “Akhak-kola”, “Kara-yurga”, “Zayatulyak and Khyukhylu”, “Kungyr-buga”, “Ural-Batyr”, and their variants. The publication contains an introductory article, comments on folklore material with a brief description of the variants, information about storytellers, distinctiveness of the performance of epic works, a glossary, etc. The appendix contains information about the consultants, samples of musical notes, as well as the articles “Bashkir storytellers and their epic repertoire” by Sagitova, “About Bashkir epic tunes” by L.P. Atanova.
