BASHKORT KHALYK IZHADY

“BASHKORT KHALYK IZHADY” (“Bashkir Folk Art”), systematized, scientific edition of Bashkir folklore. The first three volumes version of this work was compiled and published by the Bashkir Branch of the AS USSR between 1954–59. Between 1972– 85, 18 books were published by the Institute of History, Language and Literature under the guidance of A.I. Kharisov (1972–75), G.B. Khusainov and Kirey Mergen (1975–85). Each book has a genre designation. Since 1995, the Institute began publishing an additional set of B.Kh.I. under the leadership of A.M. Suleimanov and G.R. Khusainova. B.Kh.I. includes ac­ companying comments, such as detailed in­ formation about the various versions of the folklore materials it comprises, its original story tellers, as well as various summaries and a glossary. Each volume has an introductory article with a formal description of the genre.
