BAYAS
“BAYAS”, is a Bashkir ethnic song, uzun-kuy. The melody is first registered by G.Z. Suleymanov and published in his book “Kuray” (1985). The song is lyroepic. According to the legend, Bayas, the head man of the yurt commune, who lived in the Kuseevo village of Orskiy District (Baymakskiy District of RB), worked to protect the interests of his people. He also was wellknown as a skillful singer and quaray player. He was arrested and sent to Siberia to hard labor in exile. He escaped from there and hid in his native lands for years. Presumably he is the author of “B.” song. There are two melodical variants of the song: the first one is modest and serious (wellknown per formance by Suleymanov), the second variant is more lyrical and richly ornamented.
