BELYAYEV Timofey Savelyevich

BELYAYEV Timofey Savelyevich (1768– 1864; according to other sources, 1846). He was a serf and private secretary of landowner N.I. Timashev. B. knew the Bashkir language and folklore well. He penned in Russian the Bashkir epic “Kuzyy-kurpyas and Mayan-khylu”, published in 1812 under the title “Kuz­ Kurpyach, a Bashkir story written in the Bash­ kir language by a kuray player and translated into Russian in the valleys of the Riphean mountains, 1809”. Presumably, B. recorded the khikayat story “Aldar and Zukhra”.
