BERECZKI Gábor
BERECZKI Gábor (24.3.1928–4.4.2012), Hungarian linguist, folklorist. Doctor of Philology (1987). His research relates to the study of the language and folklore of the FinnoUgric and Turkic peoples of the Volga region. In 1950–60, together with L. Vikár, he collected materials on language, folklore, folk music in the Volga-Kama region, including in Bash kortostan. In 1974–75, he also conducted joint field research among the Udmurts of Ilishevsky, Tatyshlinsky, Yanaulsky districts as well as the Mari of the Dyurtyulinsky district and the Mordva and Chuvash of the Bakalinsky district of BASSR. Following the expeditions, the anthologies “Cheremis Folksongs” (1971), “Chu vash Folksongs” (1979), “Votyak Folksongs” (1989), “Tatar Folksongs” (1999) were released.
