BIKBULATOV Nail Valeyevich [14.2.1931, Etbayevo village, Argayashskiy district BASSR (Argayashskiy district, Chelyabinskaya region) – 18.4.1996, Ufa, buried in Novo Sobolyevo village, Argayashskiy district, Che lyabinskaya region], ethnographer. Candidate of History (1965). Graduated from Bashkir pedagogical institute n.a. K.A. Timiryazev (Ufa, 1951). In 1957–93 worked in IHLL. His scientific research is devoted to social and familymarriage relations, customs and cere monies, clanship system, decorative arts and crafts, problems of Bashkir ethnogenesis. B. analyzed Bashkir decor of the 18th20th c. from a historical and genetic point of view (dis tinguished 6 groups) He is one of the founders of IHLL ethnographic photo library (more than 12 thousand units), Museum of archeology and ethnology. He is an author of more than 100 scientific papers.
