“BURANBAY” is a Bashkir ethnic song, uzun-kuy. First registered by S.G. Rybakov in 1894 from Tulgunzha Gubaydullin in the Itkulovo village of Orskiy District of Oren burgskaya region (current 2d Itkulovo village of Baymakskiy District of RB). It is published in Music and songs of the Ural Muslims and their household description. The song is lyroepic. It is dedicated to Buranbay-sesen, the head of the yurt commune of the 6th Bashkir canton. He was wrongly accused of official abuse and sentenced to be exiled in Siberia. On his way there he escaped. The melody is masterly ornamented. It has a wide range of sounds (2 octaves). Singing of “B.” song is considered to be the pinnacle of skills. Musical adaptation for a choir and symphonic orchestra was made by N.A. Dautov. The melody of the song is used in the Suite for a violin and piano by K.F. Akhmetov, in “Crane song” ballet by L.B. Stepanov and Z.G. Ismagilov.
