VUKOLOV-ERLIK (Vukolov) Filip Nikolayevich
VUKOLOV-ERLIK (Vukolov) Filip Nikolayevich (18.11.1904–28.7.1979), writer, folklorist. V.–E. collected more than 400 Chuvash folk songs, proverbs and sayings, recorded the beyet “Kazan Besieged”, included in the scien tific code “Chuvash Folk Art”. In 1949–48, 1960–63, he went to the Bizhbulyaksky and Be lebeyevsky districts, where he recorded dance and wedding songs, yupa yurrisem and compiled a collection “Songs of the Homeland of Narspi”, consisting of 42 Chuvash folk songs. At the heart of V.E.’s story “Seekers of Happiness” is a historical legend that existed in the Belebeyevsky district. His musical drama “Narspi” is based on the eponymous poem by K.V. Ivanov and includes wedding and dance songs of the Ural Chuvash people. The materi als collected by V.E. are stored in the scientific archive of the Chuvash State Institute of Humanities.
