ZAKLICHKA
ZAKLICHKA is a kind of ritual folklore, appeals to the phenomena, elements to greet and ask for something by means of spellsmagical utterances: “Rain, rain, go, go, / May we be safe and sound / May troubles vanish / May the country live in peace” (Bashk.); “Rain, rain, be heavier, / I'll pour a bowl of soup for you, / and give you a karavay bread, / Rain the whole year!” (Rus.), “Old Sun, come, come – old cloud vanish away! Open the front window, close the back window. Put on your new dress, take off your old dress. Old Sun, come, come!” (Udm.); “Larks fly here, Bring the bright summer, / We are tired of winter, / It has eaten much bread” (Ukr.); “Rain, rain / I will treat you with bread and with butter” (Chuv.) etc. Z. origin is connected with ancient calendar rites and spells. Z. has a form of monologue. There are many repetitions, appeals and other means of expres sion in Z. It often consists of 2–4verse stanzas.
