“ZARIFA”, Bashkir ethnic song, kyska-kuy. The song was registered by S.G. Rybakov from M. Karakaev in 1894 in the Akimbetovo village, Verkhneuralskiy District, Orenburgskaya redion (current Tashbulatovo village, Abzelilovskiy District, RB). It is published in the book Music and song of the Ural Muslims and their household description. It is a humorous dancing takmak. According to the version registered by Rybakov, the song was composed by a dancer called Zarifa from the Kushiyevo village of Verkhneuralskiy District, Orenburgskaya region (Abzelilovskiy District, RB). The melody can be characterized by soft rounded intonations, a regular beat and moderate tempo. The poetic lyrics have the form of a humorous dialogue between matchmakers. Musical adaptation of “Z.” for choir and piano was composed by K.F. Akhmetov, for instrumental ensemble – by T.S. Karimov.

The melody and the plot of the song were used by F.A. Gaskarov, a balletmaker, in a sametitled mass dance performed in 1940. Ethnic dance ensemble n.a. F. Gaskarov in cluded it in its repertoire. The dance is based on youth games and fun. It originally combines the enthusiasm of the youth and subtle lyricism, the smooth and gracious moves of the girls are harmoniously combined with the clear, rhythmic and concise performance of young men.
