IVAN KUPALA HOLIDAY
IVAN KUPALA HOLIDAY is an ethnic holiday of Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and other peoples. It marked summer solstice. The Sun was believed to die gradually after it.
According to research, people from Russian villages on the territory of Bashkortostan used to search for a fern flower at night before I.K. h. It was believed that the flower could charm a person or help to find a treasure. People used to collect medicinal plants as they were believed to have great power this night. People also used to play games, perform round dances, light bonfires and tell fortunes from wreaths.
