INSTITUTE OF ETHNOLOGICAL STUDIES

INSTITUTE OF ETHNOLOGICAL STUDIES of R.G . K u z e e v U R C R A S. Founded in 1993 in Ufa, in 2011 was named after R.G. Kuzeev. Its researchers study the ethnography and ethnic history of Bashkortostan peoples, their archeology, religious studies, ethnic political science, materials of archeological monuments, etc. The scientists of the institute participated the development of the programs, such as “Peoples of Bashkortostan”, “Folklore of Bashkortostan peoples”, preparation of “Peoples of Bashkortostan: encyclopedia” edition; they collected and generalized the ethnographic and traditional cultural materials of East-­Slavic, Turkic and Finno-­Ugrian peoples; they studied musical folklore of East­ Slavic peoples from the Southern Urals, collected materials about archeological monuments of the Southern Urals as a result of ethnographic expeditions, compiled the collections of decorative arts objects of different peoples. The archeological collection of findings from the Philippovskiy Kurgans was exhibited in the State historical museum (Moscow), Hermitage (S.­Petersburg), museums of the USA, Italy.
