KARABAY

“KARABAY”, Bashkir ethnic song, kyska-kuy. First registered by S. Gabyashi, published in the “Bashkort khalk yirdary” collection in the K.F. Akhmetov’s recording. It is a popular, cheerful takmak. The distinctive features of the melodic structure are periodicity and squareness. The musical adaptations of “K.” for choir were mere by Y.N. Zemtsov, K.Y. Rakhimov. S.A. Nizametdinov made variations for accordion based on the “K.” theme, V.N. Klepinin created variations for piano. There is an ethnic dance with the same title.
