KHUDAYBERDIN, Shagit Akhmetovich (9.10.1896, Derevnya Psyanchino of Orenburgsky Uyezd of the namesake gub., now Derevnya Khudayberdino of Kugarchinsky Raion of the RB, – 21.12.1924, Moscow, buried in Ufa), Soviet Communist Party Activist. Member of the Left Socialist Party since 1917, RCP(b) – since 1918. Participant of the First World War and the Civil War. Awarded with the Order of the Red Flag (1921). Since May 1917 Memberof the Executive Committee of the Ufa Muslim Military Shuro, since December – of Ufa Gub. Revolutionary Tribunal. In1918 Deputy Commissar for Nationalities Affairs, simultaneously, Chairman of theCommission on the Bashkir Affairs of UfaGub., Deputy Chairman of the Bashkir Department of the Central Muslim Commissariat. Between February–July 1921 Chairman of the Bashkir Central Executive Committee, between November 1921–May 1922 Secretary of the Bashkir Obl. Committee of the RCP(b), since 1922 Deputy People’s Commissar of Agriculture, since1923 People’s Commissar of Internal Affairs, in 1924 Deputy Chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars of the BASSR. Between 1921–22, Head of the Bashkir Obl. Committee for Assistance to Starving People. One of the organizers of the process of elimination of illiteracy in the BASSR. Under the leadership of Kh., the work on the formation of the norms ofthe modern Bashkir literary language andits introduction as a state language of the RB was carried out. The State Awardnamed after Kh. has been established in the RB.
