KIREY MERGEN [Kireyev Akhnyaf Nuriyevich (Nurmukhammetovich); 28.6.1912, Kigazytamakovo village, Birskiy district, Ufimskaya region (Mishkinskiy district, RB) – 24.1.1984, Ufa], a writer, folklorist, literary critic. Doctor of philology (1963), Professor (1966). Participant of the great Patriotic war. Graduated from Bashkir pedagogical institute n.a. K.A. Timiryazev (1949), CC CPSU Academy of social sciences (Moscow, 1954). His scientific activities relate to studying the genres of Bashkir folklore, history of folklore studies; Bashkir literature of the soviet period. He participated in the compilation of the “Bashkort khalyk izhady” collection, the author of an introductory article to it. The author of “On the NaryshTau slopes” (1950), “Golden eagle’s wing” (b. 1–4, 1981–1985) novels, etc. which have folklore connections. K.M. works are translated into English, Chinese, German and other languages.
