MAGIC

MAGIC (from Greek magejia – sorcery), is rituals connected with the belief that a person (a magician) can influence other people and nature. It originated in primitive society. Usually bakses, shamans, imse, sorcerers, priests etc. conduct the magical rituals. There are different types of M.: verbal (good wishes, spells, curses and others); partial (some special tools are used: stones with “eyes”, a sharpener, a knife and others); actional (some special magic actions are to be done); melos; color (the symbols of colors are used, e.g. the clothes of black color are used to call for rain; a white ram was sacrificed to greet the New Sun etc.); cosmogonic; love; labor (the person who was the first to start working used to receive a sandwich with butter etc.); elemental (people used to attribute to water, fire, air, wind etc.); protective and others.
