MINEY BATYR AND TSAR SHULGEN
“MINEY BATYR AND TSAR SHULGEN”, a monument to Bashkir literature, epos. The epos was registered from sesen M.S. Mirkhaydarov’s private archive. He was born in Askarovo the First village, Verkhneuralskiy District, Orenburg region (Askarovo village, Abzelilovskiy Disctrict, RB). The record was given by his son M.M. Mirkhaydarov to A.M. Suleymanov in 2001. First published in the scientific collection called “Bashkir ethnic art. written kissas and dastans” (V.7, 2004). It is a part of the general epic Bashkir legacy: “Ural-batyr”, “Akbuzat”, “Kungyr-buga” and others. In the first part of the epos batyr Miney from the northern tribe sets free the Bashkirs captured by khazars; during the celebration batyr competes in agility, strength, courage. The tribal elders decide to make beautiful Tandysa a bride for Miney, as he accomplished all the tasks. One day the girl is kidnapped by Shulgen’s son during the walk. Miney goes down to the underworld, saves his bride and other prisoners such as Khauban, Ulpan-batyr and other women. The batyr also takes Akbuzat from the underworld as well as a bull, cows, goats, sheep and give them to people. In the second part Miney leaves to fight the Huns. After the successful campaign the batyr returns, and Tandysa’s relatives see them off to Miney’s homeland.
