DRAWLING SONG

DRAWLING SONG (“Ozon kyuy”) is   a n  i n t e r r e g i o n a l  c o m p e t i t i o n   o f  p e r f o r m e r s   o f   B a s h k i r   d r a w l i n g  s o n g. It has been held since 1997 in Tuymazy once every 2 years in order to find and promote talented folk singers, restore and develop the performing traditions of uzun-kyuy, and revive the local Bashkir song folklore. A mandatory condition of the contest is that the participant knows more than 30 drawling songs. Before performing the songs, the contestants are required to tell the story of the song origin. Participants are divided into 3 age groups: up to 16 years old, 16–60 years old, and over 60 years old. In different years, representatives of various districts and cities of the RB and other regions of the Russian Federation participated in the competition.
