GEMS OF THE KAMA REGION
“GEMS OF THE KAMA REGION” i s a f e s t i v a l o f e t h n i c c u l t u r e s o f t h e F i n n o- U g r i c e t h n i c i t i e s o f t h e R B. It has been held since 1991 in cities (Agidel, Birsk, Neftekamsk, Yanaul) and districts (Kaltasinsky, Krasnokamsky, Mish kinsky, Tatyshlinsky) of the region where the FinnoUgric population lives in order to safe guard and revive their folk traditions, develop the tangible and spiritual culture, as well as strengthen interregional and international rela tions. The festival includes the holidays of song and folklore art “Springs of the singing land”, folkstage dance “Rhapsody in dance”, festival competition of folklore bands “Silver ball”, beauty contest “Mari beauty”, gala concert of ethnic instrumental, vocal, choreographic and folk ensembles, etc. Exhibitions of fine and decorative arts and ethnic costumes are also organized along with the workshops on per forming folk dance “A thin rope”, carpet weaving, making the Mari women’s belt and bib, Mari bagpipes, squeezebox, etc. In different years, the festival was attended by people from the near and far countries as well as the regions of the Russian Federation.
