NIGHTINGALE

“NIGHTINGALE” (“Handugas”), Bashkir ethnic  song,  uzun-kyuy.  First  recorded  by A.A.  Eichenwald  in  1928,  published  in  the “Bashkort Khalk Yirdary” digest in the record by K.Yu. Rakhimov. Lyric song. N. glorifies the beauty of the Bashk. region. The virtuosity of the melody combined with the poetic character of the text gives the song both an expressive imagery and insight. The chant, based on the major  pentatonic,  is  distinguished  by  bright singing, rich ornamentation and a large range (duodecimo tone). Arrangements were made by K.Yu.  Rakhimov  for  voice  and  piano,  choir a cappella and symph. orchestra; by B.I. Shestakov – for choir a cappella. The song’s tune was used in the Ayhylu opera by M.M. Valeyev and N.I. Peyko.
