“TATAR FOLK ART” (“Tatar khalyk izhaty”), a systematic scientific publication of the samples of Tatar folklore. Compiled in 1976–93 by a team of folklorists of G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature, and History. It consists of 13 volumes and includes works of all genres of Tatar folk poetry. Fairy tales (3 volumes), songs (3 volumes), proverbs and idiots, riddles, dastans, beyets and munazhats, legends and fables, jokes and children’s folklore were published in separate volumes. Folklore materials in the collection are accompanied by comments with a brief description of the variants, information about the story-tellers, a glossary, etc. Each volume has an introductory article dedicated to the ideological and aesthetic features of the genre. The collection also contains folklore works of the Tatars of Bashkortostan collected by S.G. Rybakov, Naki Isanbet, R.M. Mukhametzyanov, et al. It widely used the materials of the folklore collection of the Department of Tatar Philology of the Bashkir State University.
