FOLKLORE TRADITION

FOLKLORE TRADITION is the heritage, carried from one generation to another, reproduced in society ethnic art including oral poetic art. F.t. has being influenced by its collective nature, when kubairs, lore, ethnic songs and other genres expressing ideal and aesthetic conceptions appear among social groups united by a common way of life, mentality (see Folklore world picture) and represent the ideas of the collective at a particular historical period of time. The process is based on the individual art of sesens and storytellers as well as on the stable and continuous F.t. which exists by means of unified content and form, imagery of folklore (see Folklore poetics). F.t. also includes oral variable and multifunctional works (see Prohibitions, Non‑fairytale ethnic prose, Lore, Sign, etc.) Modern folklore preserves typical characteristics of the works but includes new motifs, images, style, etc. Folklore texts are carried from one generation to another, they help to understand the reasons and forms of ancient content preservation, social and historical time which stimulates preservation of F.t. Scientific studies of F.t. which use comparative, historical, statistical and other methods, field registration and publications of folklore (see Folklore expeditions) help to detect the traditional basis of the folklore phenomenon, typical and a typical, forms of its existence, limits of its preservation or destruction, syncretic nature.
