URAL-BATYR

“URAL-BATYR”, Bashkir State Academic Drama Theater performance based on the same-titled play by G.G. Shafikov (based on Bashkir ethnic epic “Ural‑batyr”, translated by A. Utyabay into the Bashkir language). It premiered in September 2006. Director – R.M. Khakimov, production designer – E. Gizatullin, composers – S.A. Nizametdinov, U.M. Idelbayev. The genre is considered to be an epic drama. The epic version performed on stage includes all important events registered from sesens. The author created the characters – Ural and Shulgen brothers, Khumay and Aykhylu sisters in accordance with his own intention. He showed the conflict more sharply but saved the compositional base of the epic. Cast: F.S. Gafarov (Yanbirde), T.D. Khisamova (Yanbike), I.I. Gumerov (Ural as a child), A.F. Urmanshin (Shulgen as a child), I.R. Baymurzin (Ural), A.F. Gafarov (Shulgen), K.F. Murtazin (Samrau), S.A. Buranbaeva (Khumay) and others.

The drama was staged again in November 2018. Executive producer – A.S. Borisov, director – F.R. Garipov, designer – M. Yegorov, composer – U.M. Idelbayev. The main theme of the play is immortality; it naturally intermingles the themes of life and death, good and evil, authorities and people. Yanbirde and Yanbike gave birth to two sons – Ural and Shulgen. Growing up, the children learned that Death is stronger than people. Thus, Ural and his brother decided to search for a living spring as its water could make a person immortal. But after passing all ordeals and finding the living spring, Ural decided that only nature, folk and quaray melody should be immortal: the symbol of their unity performed on stage was a magic staff.
