KHARISOV Akhnaf Ibragimovich [2.6. 1914, Derevnya Imyanovo of Birsky Uyezd of Ufa Gub. (now Baltachevsky Raion of the RB) – 15.5.1977, Ufa], Philologist and Writer. Dr.Sci (Philology,1972) and Full Professor (1972). Participant in the Great Patriotic War. After graduating from Timiryazev Bashkir Pedagogical Institute in 1935, he taught there. Since 1941 (intermittently), he worked at the Institute of History, Language and Literature. Between 1945–46, Editor at Bashgosizdat publishing house. Between 1948–51, Chairman of the Union of Writers of the BASSR. Scientific studies are dedicated to the history of the Bashkir literature, folklore and linguistics. Author of the following scholarly works: Literary Heritage of the Bashkir People, Literary Phenomena(1963), Spiritual Roots(1984), etc. One of the editors and compilers of the 1st and 2nd ed. of the Bashkort khalyk Izhady collection and one of the compilers of the book The Anthology of the Bashkir Poetry (1971), etc. Recorded a version of the Ural-batyr epic and other creative works of the Bashkir folklore. Prepared to publishing the poems by Sh.Babich (Selected Works, 1958). He published articles on the topics of the development of the Bashkir lit. language, lit. mastery and the Bashkir music culture and theatre. Translated the works by N.A. Krasheninnikov et al. into the Bashkir language.
