CHUVASH FOLK ART

“CHUVASH FOLK ART” (“Chavash khalak pultarulakhe”), a systematic scientific publication. Carried out by a team of folklorists of the Research Institute of Language, Literature, History, and Economics under the Council of Ministers of the Chuvash ASSR (currently, Chuvash State Institute of Humanities, Cheboksary) in 1973–87. It consists of 13 volumes and includes works of all genres of Tatar folk poetry. The 1st and 2nd volumes include fairy tales, the 3rd and 4th include songs, the 5th includes proverbs and idioms, riddles and signs, the 1st part of the 6th volume includes genres of children’s folklore, the 2nd part includes myths, legends, and lores. Between 2004 and 2019, 13 volumes of the collection were published: the 1st volume includes myths, legends, and tales; the 2nd one includes tales of ulyp giants, epic poems, mythological and historical songs (peits); the 3rd one includes texts of prayers and benevolence; the 4th one includes proverbs and sayings; the 5th one includes historical legends; the 6th one includes omens, beliefs, dreams; the 7th one includes children’s folklore; the 8th one includes tales of animals; the 9th one includes fairy tales; the 10th one includes labor and ritual songs; volume 11 in 2 parts includes toponymic legends; volume 12, part 1 includes conspiracies; volume 13 in 2 parts includes riddles. In 2019, “Heroic Tales” (book 1) was published. Each book has an introductory article and comments, bibliography, glossary, etc. The collection includes the works of oral folk art recorded from the Chuvash people of the Aurgazinsky, Bizhbulyaksky, Belebeyevsky, Gafuriysky, Yermekeyevsky, Karmaskalinsky, Miyakinsky, Fedorovsky, Chekmagushevsky, Sharansky districts of the RB.
