SHITOVA Svetlana Nikolayevna
SHITOVA Svetlana Nikolayevna (b.12.2. 1936, Stalingrad), an ethnographer. Candidate of Historical Sciences (1968). Distinguished Worker of Culture of the RB (2003). After graduating from Moscow State University (1958) until 2006, she worked at the Institute of History, Language and Literature. Her scientific activities were dedicated to the study of the traditional culture of Bashkirs of the 18–20th centuries, problems of ethnic history. She also studied the everyday life, economy and culture of Belorussians, Mari, Russians and other peoples of the region; history, ethnography of population and traditions of the architectural decor of Ufa. Organizer, leader and participant of more than 30 ethnographic expeditions in the Volga‑Ural Region, etc. One of the founders of the ethnographic collection of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography; of the photolibrary of the Ethnology Department of the Institute History, Language and Literature.
