AVIATION TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
AVIATION TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, Ufa state-own university, which was established in 1942 under the name of S.Ordzhonikidze Ufa Aviation Institute in place of Rybinsk Aviation Institute (established in 1932), which was evacuated to Ufa in December, 1941. Since 1992 — the current name and status. The University comprises 6 departments [Aircraft Engines, Energy and Transport; Avionics, Energy and Information Communications; Protection in Emergency Situations; Informatics and Robotics; General Science; Department Of Part-Time Studies under UMPO (1942)]; Institute of Aviation Technologies; Military and Technical Institute and the Institute of Economics and Management; branches in Kumertau (1977) and Ishimbay (1982); Aviation Tekhnikum, etc. It is a headline institution of higher education for Innovative Scientific and Technological Park, and technoparks: aviation technologies, KhTTs—UAI, and information and com- munication technologies. Graduates are awarded the qualification of a Specialist, Bachelor and Master. Full-time, part-time and distanе learning training is available. There are postgraduate training programs, post-doctoral programs, and councils for defense of Doctoral and Candidate theses. More than 80 scientific works, textbooks and monographs are published annually in the University. The Vestnik of USATU journal, The Aviator newspaper and others are published. Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1982). On the territory of the University, there is MiG—19 memorial aircraft. Also, there is the Yu.A.Gagarin bust in front of the 9th building of USATU.
