CICONIIFORMES
CICONIIFORMES, an order of birds. There are 6 known families and 118 species. In the RB there are 6 species from Ciconiidae and Ardeidae families. They are migrating birds of large (with body length up to 100 cm and body mass of about 3 kg, black stork) and medium (with length of about 33 cm and body mass up to 145 g, large white heron, small bittern, night heron) sizes. These birds eat insects, amphibians, and rarely reptiles and rodents. They can be found in littoral vegetations and in wet meadows in flood plains of the Belaya, Bystryy Tanyp, Dyoma, Zilair, and Sakmara rivers. The great white heron was included in The Red List of the RB, while the black stork was included in both The Red Lists of the RB and RF.
