ALIFBA (ABC book), a textbook for initial literacy education (ref. Alphabet). Based on the Cyrillic alphabet, the first A. was The Primer for the Bashkirs (1892, the author – presumably, V.V.Katarinsky). The Primer for the Bash kirs by A.G.Bessonov (1907), etc. Based on the Arabic script, textbook The Young Generation (1923) by M.Smak was published. Based on the Latin alphabet – The Young generation. Primer (1929) by Z.N.Ayukhanov and G.Ya.Davletshin; under the same title, the textbook by Z.N.Ayukhanov, M.A.Burangulov and A.A.Mustafina (1930); Young Kolkhoznik. Primer for Teenagers (1931) by Z.N.Ayukhanov, A.A.Mustafina and G.Sagdi; Primer (1933) by Z.N.Ayukhanov were published. In 1940–63, the latter was republished based on the Russian graphics. Since 1962, the A. by Z.N.Ayukhanov and A.A.Gallyamov, based on the syllabic method of literacy education, was used at the schools of the Republic. The A. published by A.A.Gallyamov in 1969 was awarded the diploma of the international Leipzig Book Fair (GDR, 1974). In 1998, a textbook was created on its basis by F.G.Khisamitdinova and S.V.Atnagulova. The elective A. by A.F.Synbulatova, E.A.Islamgulova and Z.Z.Khisamova (1998) is based on the concept of developmental teaching.
