ALSHEYEVSKY RAION

ALSHEYEVSKY RAION, located in the SW of the RB. Established on January 31st, 1935. Territory – 2,415 km2. Adm. centre – Selo Rayevsky, which is located 125 km SW of Ufa. Population – 38.4 thous. people (2017). In 2017 the area of agricultural lands amounted to 185 thous. ha (77% of the total area), including arable lands – 107, hayfields – 23, pastures – 55; forest area – 39.5, surface waters – 1.5. Agricultural enterprises [16 OOOs, APC, 90 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, sugar beet, sunflower, meat and dairy cattle breeding. Pig breeding, sheep breeding, horse breeding, and bee-keeping are well­developed. There are: OOO  Alsheyevsky  Forest,  Alsheyevskoye Selenergo, Shafranovskaya Factory of Art Crafts (a branch of GUP Agidel), OAO Chekhovskaya (production of mineral water), Rayevsky Sugar Factory, Raevsky Alshey-Myaso meat processing plant, etc. The Kuibyshev Railway (Abdulino—Ufa Section) and the following highways: Chishma—Aksyonovo—Kirghiz-Miyaki, Sterlitamak—Raevsky, Aksyonovo—Aksakovo cross the territory. There are: Aksyonovsky Agricultural Tekhnikum, Vocational Training School for Agriculture, 22 general education schools, 17  pre-school   educational   institutions, a children’s arts school, an equestrian school, a youth sports school, House of Pioneers and  Schoolchildren;  a  central  hospital, 6 outpatient hospitals, 39 medical and obstetrical centres, the Shafranovo Health Resort; 71 palaces of culture, 29 libraries. In the  Raion,  there  are  10  folk  and 4 exemplary amateur art groups.
