APITHERAPY, the treatment by means of bee­keeping products. The medicinal drugs based on bee-keeping products contain amino acids, biologically active agents, vitamins, etc, which enhance immunity and metabolic processes, possess protective properties. There are several primary treatment options, such as bee stings, application or per-oral intake. A. is indicated for treatment of anemia, insomnia, arthritis, neurosis, peptic ulcer disease, burns, cardiovascular diseases and gastrointestinal diseases. In Bashkortostan, it has been used in tradi­ tional medicine since olden times. Since the beginning of 1990s A. is used in the healthcare institutions. The studies on A. are carried out in the Bee Breeding and Apitherapy Centre.
