ARSLANOV, Mukhamed Nuriakhmetovich [2.2.1910, Derevnya Mamyakovo of Ufimsky Uyezd of Ufa Gub. (Kushnarenkovsky Raion of the RB) — 20.10.2001, Ufa], Scenographer. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1980) and BASSR (1968), Merited Artist of the RSFSR (1954) and BASSR (1943). Laureate of the BASSR Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1973). Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1955, 1971). Between 1931—34, he studied at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Between 1936—46, he worked as Chief Painter at BSAT, between 1938—73 — at Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre, simultaneously, between 1936—41 — as a Teacher at the Bashk. Theatre Art School, between 1973—78 — at USIA. He is one of the founders of the Bashk. scenography. The scenography of A. is characterized by historical authenticity, deep penetration into the dramatic content of the performance, organic integration with music and choice of colours. Between 1954—55 — Chairman of the Board of the Union of Artists of the RB.
