ASKINSKY RAION
ASKINSKY RAION, located on the N of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930. Abolished on February 20, 1932, the territory became part of Karaidelsky and StaroBaltachevsky raions. Newly established on January 31, 1935. Abolished on February 1, 1963, the territory transferred to Karaidelsky Raion. Restored on January 14, 1965. Territory – 2,542 km2. Adm. centre – Selo Askino, which is located 213 km NE of Ufa and 110 km SE of the Kuyeda Railway Station in Perm Kray. Population – 18.9 thous. people (2017). In 2017, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 93.9 thous. ha (36.9% of the total area), including arable lands – 32.9, hayfields – 27.4, pastures – 32.7; forest area – 151.1, surface waters – 0.8. Agricultural enterprises [5 APCs, 63 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, potatoes, and meat and dairy cattle breeding. There are: OOO Askinskiye Electric Networks, DSPMK, Uraluniversalstroy, Stroyremmontazh+, Komservice, etc. The Yavgildino—Shchuchye Ozero (Perm Kray), and Starobaltachevo—Askino highways cross the territory. There are: Bashkir Agricultural College, 50 general education schools, 17 pre-school educational institutions, a school of arts, a children’s art centre, a sports clubs; a central hospital and 3 rural outpatient clinics, 40 medical and obstetrical centers, the Tanyp Health Resort, the central Palace of Culture, 39 clubs, 30 libraries, and a local history museum. There are: 7 folk and 3 exemplary amateur art groups.
