AKHATOV, Iskander Shaukatovich (b.18.8.1956 in Ufa), Physicist and Mechanical Engineer. Associate Member of AS RB (2002), Dr.Sci. (Phys.-Math.) (1990), Full Professor (1992). Merited Scientist of the RB (2001). Laureate of the Bashkirian Komsomol Award (1985). Graduated from the MSU (1979). In 1982–2000 worked at BSU, being at the same time the ViceChairman of the Praesidium of USC RAS between 1993–2000. Since 1994, at the Institute of Mechanics (2000–2008 as Dir.). Since 2011, the head of Centre for Microand Nanoscale Dynamics of Disperse Systems of BSU; since 2014 the Dir. of the Centre for Design, Industrial Technologies and Materials at Skolkovo Science and Technology Institute. His scientific activity is dedicated to research in the field of nonline dynamics of multiphase and nonNewtonian systems, phys. acoustics, and math. modelling. A. has developed theories of non-stationary burning and detonation modes for porous explosive substances, nonlinear interaction of acoustic waves in bubble systems and methods of aerosol flow focusing on micro-capillaries.
