ASHKADAR
ASHKADAR, a Bashk. folk song, uzun-kyuy. First recorded by S.G.Rybakov in 1894, published in his The Music and Songs of Ural Muslims with an Essay of Their Everyday Life book. The song is lyric and dramatic and it is one of the most popular works of Bashk. mus. folklore. The basis of the plot are the events connected with the death of a beloved husband during hunting. His wife composes a song to commemorate him. The tune is characterized by a wide tempo, slow pace, developed ornamented tunes and a stepped deployment of melody. The song was arranged by Kh.Sh.Zaimov, R.A.Murtazin for voice and piano, and K.Yu.Rakhimov for symph. orchestra. In 1941, A.A.Eykhenwald wrote the namesake opera using this song’s plot.
