BABICH (Babichev), Shaykhzada Mukha­metzakirovich [2.1.1895, Derevnya Asyanovo of Birsky Uyezd of Ufa Gub. (Dyurtyulinsky Raion of the RB) — 28.3.1919, Selo Preob­razhenskoye of Burzyan­Tangaursky Canton of the ASBR, now Selo Zilair of Zilairsky Raion of the RB], Poet, Leader of Bashkir National Movement. In 1910 and 1913 worked as a teacher in Kazakhstan. After graduation from the Galiya madrassa (1916), he worked as a teacher in Troitsk. Since August 1917 – had worked at the Kryuchok satirical magazine in Orenburg. Since December 1917, he worked in Ufa: Acting Chairman, Secretary of the Bashkir Obl. Bureau, Editor of the Bashkir newspaper, one of the initiators of the creation and leadership of the Volna youth organization and employee at the Bashrevkom Press Department. He wrote: Oath to the People (1914), Klop and Gazazil (all — in 1916), Message to the Bashkir People (1919), etc. Author of a book titled Young Bashkortostan (1918). The works of B. are imbued with the national patriotic spirit and dedicated to the events connected with the Bashkorto­stan autonomy formation. B. possessed the gift of improvisation. The traditions of sesens are developed in his poetic appeals to the people.
