BALKANTAU

BALKANTAU (Bashkir translation for “shining mountain”), a residual mountain, a natural monument  (1965).  Located 0.5 km SW of Selo Kirovo of Davlekanovsky Raion. Abs. alt. — 319.6 m. Slopes in the lower part are gentle, in the upper part, steep. There are rare species of plants: Astragalus helmii, Stipa korshinskyi, Hedysarum grandiflorum, Koeleria sclerophylla, etc. There is an epic story, connected with the mountain: Zayatulyak and Khyukhylu.
