BALTACHEVSKY RAION
BALTACHEVSKY RAION, located in the N of the RB. Established on August 20, 1930 under the name of StaroBaltachevsky Raion, since Sept. 20, 1933 the current name. Abolished on February 1, 1963, the territory became part of Buraevsky Raion. Newly established on November 4, 1965. Territory — 1,598 km2. Adm. centre — Selo Starobaltachevo, which is located 220 km N of Ufa and 70 km SE of the Kueda Rail way Station in Perm Kray. Population — 18.7 thous. people (2017).
In 2017, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 100.6 thous. ha (62.9% of the total area), including arable lands — 66.5, hayfields — 12.0, pastures — 21.9; forest area — 52.4, and surface waters — 0.1. Agricultural enterprises [1 MUP, 1 APC, 13 OOOs, 39 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in the cultivation of grain crops, potatoes, and meat and dairy cattle breeding. Beekeeping is welldeveloped. There are: fruit nurserygarden, and areas belonging to Askinsky Forestry. There are: grain reception enterprises, dairy and brick plants, OOO Remstroyservis and others. Highways: Buraevo–Starobaltachevo–Kueda (Perm Kray), and Starobaltachevo–Askino. There are: 47 educational institutions, 22 preschool educational institutions, a children’s art centre, a youth sports school; a central hospital, 4 rural outpatient clinics, 39 medical and obstetrical centers; 20 rural cultural centers, 18 rural clubs, the G.Galiyev Museum; 23 rural libraries, Raion Children’s Model Library, a central library. There are: 7 exemplary and 12 folk amateur art groups.
